Annual General Piss Up

Labour Day Weekend May 23-25, 2008
Long Bay, Portland

2 Runs, Pub-Crawl, Hash-Olympics, Mismanagement Elections,
Live Music, Drinks & Food & Party time

 
RUN 269
Date: Friday, May 23
Time: 2 pm
Place: Hotel "Jamaican Colors" between Manchioneal ( 6 km) & Long Bay (2 km), Portland
Hares: Rasta Shakespeare, Coco-Nuts, Pum'kin
Costs: Hash Registration J$ 300
Food: Order your own at Jamaican Colors or at one of the local restaurants in Long Bay after the run
AGPU T-Shirts: TBA
Directions: Go to Portland via St.Thomas. 6 km after Manchioneal, (in a bent before the road turns downhill into a dark valley with huge trees)  you see a big sign on your right: "Hotel Jamaican Colors". Turn right, follow the dirt road for about 500 yards. The entrance to the Hotel is on the left. Park along the road, not in the Hotel's parking lot.
 
PUB CRAWL
Date: Friday, May 23
Time: 8pm
Meeting Point: "Chill Out", Long Bay
Costs: Depending on how much you drink.
Bring: Comfortable Shoes + good boozing condition (there are more then 10 bars along Long Bay's 3 km main road!)
Directions: "Chill Out" is on the Beach, at the beginning of Long Bay (coming from South),  big open building with thatched roof
 
3rd JA HASH OLYMPICS
Date: Saturday. May 24
Time: 11 am    Registration + forming of teams
         12 noon  Opening Ceremony, followed by competitions, followed by down-downs + Medal Ceremony
Place: "Chill Out", Olympic Arena: on the beach
Olympics' Hares: Coco-Nuts, Rasta Shakespeare & Co.
Costs: Olympics Registration for participants, judges & spectators: J$ 300
Food: Seated Meal at "Chill Out": Chicken (J$ 400), Veggies(J$ 500), Fish(J$ 700), or Curry Shrimp (J$ 700). Prices include soup after Olympics.
 
RSVP for food on Saturday until Tuesday, May 20  via email to Coco-Nuts (annmaica@mail.infochan.com). Please indicate your choice of food and if you want it served after the Olympics (ca. 4pm) or before the AGPU

Program: Mismanagement Elections followed by Party time with Live Music

Time: 1:30 pm
Place: "Seafood Hash" near (Reich) Reach Falls, St. Thomas
Hare: John Revolting & his dance group
FOOD: Lobster and Underground jerk pork!
John Revolting's special cookery requires that you ORDER YOUR MENU in advance, so make up your mind ASAP and RSVP to Bruce the Dancer!

There are several basic, very reasonably priced guest houses and private rooms in and around Long Bay. Here's a selection:

David (2 rooms in the hills above Long Bay - 5 min drive): 890-7661 (David also knows other people who rent out places)
Rose Garden Guest House: 913-7311; Peter-Paul Zahl: 913-7452; Likkle Paradise: 913-7702; Fisherman's: 913-9288; Monica's Hideout: 913-7113; Martha's Cottage: 913-1721; Chalet Guesthouse: 913-7126 (might be still closed after hurricane damage); The Glass House: 913-7475; Blue Heaven Resort (not suitable for families): 913-7014.
If you have problems finding accommodation call "Chill Out":913-7171. Ask for Trisha; she knows additional phone-no's.
There are also Guest Houses in Boston Bay (10 min drive north of Long Bay), and more upscale hotels in the San San Beach /  Blue Lagoon area (20 min drive)
Hotel Jamaican Colors offers bungalow accommodation for up to 20 people (more expensive than Long Bay with pool & jaccuzzi): 913-7716.
Make your reservations early; remember it's Labour Day weekend. First come, first sleep!
